The Garden received a $50,000 grant through Sustainability Victoria to carry out the following works:- -A weather shelter from the lunch area out to the poles and pave the kitchen/veranda area has now been completed... paving is yet to come. -A 2kW solar system on our current roof to power the watering system and the kitchen has now been installed -A 50 L solar hot water system will be installed in the kitchen -A pit is to be dug and a generator run sump pump installed in storm water drain to pump water into our tanks -A complete irrigation/mister system has been installed into the hothouses/shade house -MCG will also be running a series of workshops throughout 2012-13 - these will deal with composting, seed saving, wicking beds/boxes, herbs, non chemical pesticides, fruit tree pruning, food preservation and lots more. - There was a lot of work in the initial grant application and also in the Project Plan, which is being worked on at the moment, but at the end of it we will have a precise outline of events and timelines. -It is going to be a busy and exciting year for the Garden, so please join in and help... the more grubby hands on this project the better. -A full copy of the application (the Project Plan and Timeline) is available in the Library at the Garden.
-Completion of the project. A shed has been erected to make the generator weatherproofed and the fence re-erected along the garden's western boundary.
